Introduction

Ethereum has dominated the decentralized applications (DApps) sector in the crypto community, but other chains may be better suited to decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).

Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains lack significant advantages in terms of technical capabilities and transaction fees. There are more DAOs on Ethereum and its compatible chains than on any other blockchain. Based on data from blockchain voting platform Snapshot, they house over 4,200 days.

Comparatively, the Solana ecosystem has only 140 DAO. According to DeepDAO, among the top 10 DAOs by the number of decisions made over the past seven days, three are based on Solana. Also, there is currently $9.5 billion held in DAO treasuries across all networks, with $1.3 billion held by DAOs built on Solana alone and the remainder ($8.2 billion) on Ethereum.

Why make DAOs on Solana?

With the ever-growing list of DAOs and digital collectives, from small membership organizations to investor entities, there is an increased need for DAO tools to cater to the needs of these growing communities.

Ultimate DAO Tooling Landscape:

Contribution & Reputation 😎

When someone embarks on the journey of exploring the Web3 ecosystem and exploring the DAO landscape in terms of opportunities of work, they start from not knowing about DAOs, to lurking on social channels (ex: Discord, Twitter), to connecting and learning from other members, to finally getting their first gig and beyond.

It’s easy for contributors to try out their hands on tasks from different DAOs/ protocols before joining one seriously. In this case, bounties via apps like Guestbook (similar to RabbitHole on Ethereum) where payouts can be automated & linked to completing a task, helps early contributors and bounty hunters to get into the system.

Once the contributor starts his contributions that align with the community mission and goals, he/ she is rewarded and starts to get more and more tasks, building credibility and a self-brand. As and when the members value addition to the community increases, he builds on his reputation, that he can carry across DAOs, like certifications, recommendation letters, and ratings from clients in the current Web2 ecosystem.

Reputation is the beliefs / opinions that are generally held by someone based on certain behaviors and accomplishments. Since the beginning of civilization, reputation has been a metric of skills and qualities, conveyed through positions of power, badges etc. In the gaming universe, reputation has been the core of game economics, where players earn in-game tokens based on their gameplay and then exchange it for skins, weapons and characters, etc, and higher reputation is depicted by a rare collection of in-game accessories and skills badge.

xHashtag is a Web3 protocol providing on-chain credentials for Future Of Work. Using reputation credentials, brands can dynamically assemble skilled liquid teams while users are able to build their Web3 reputation and earn in exchange for creating value*.*  This also has on-chain attendance credentials, compared with the likes of POAP on Ethereum chain.
